Event Overview

This year with the support of Bay Area Disc Association, Fanya will again include a one-day Youth Division! The Fanya Youth Division is a spirited beach ultimate one-day tournament specifically for middle and high school aged youth and will run alongside the 2-day Adult Division tournament.

Tournament proceeds support Hamomi, a primary school in Nairobi, Kenya (explore this site to learn more). Bid fees support current scholarship students as they continue their educations at secondary schools throughout Kenya. Students at Hamomi have learned to play Ultimate and are excited that Bay Area youth will be playing to help support them.

  • When: Saturday, March 18th (11am-4pm)
  • Where: Ocean Beach, San Francisco near Balboa Street
  • Format:
    • Start with a mixed team skills clinic
    • Followed by games of 5-on-5 (BULA rules) “Open” with gender matching encouraged. Middle School Division and High School Division
    • Division of time spent on drills vs. games is left up to the discretion of the coaches
  • Cost: $100 per team; $15 for individuals

Gaylord NdngaFanya Five is extra special as we’ll be helping to send two students (Gaylord and Mercy) to university – having fully funded their entire secondary school experiences over the past 4 years. Teams are encouraged to learn about the lives of students, write them a letter, and/or make additional donations in support of their pursuit of education and community.

MercyGaylord’s secondary education has been fully sponsored by Fanya Further. He scored in a high tier on national secondary school exit exams and will be heading to university next! Learn more about his story here.

Fanya Further has fully funded four years of Mercy’s high school education. View Mercy’s autobiography here.
