Fanya Further returns to Ocean Beach

Fanya Further is an annual Ultimate Frisbee tournament to combine our community’s passion for Ultimate and supporting Hamomi, a sponsored project of 501c3 Lift Up Africa. Your tournament entry fee is also a tax-deductible donation!

How to Register:

  1. Coaches/Captains must register teams and submit team payments below. Pay $90 per team (coming to $15 per player). Fill Team Name in “Additional Comments” box.
  2. Once teams are registered, individuals must register as players and select teams on this form.
  3. Individuals without a team can register as free agents for the opportunity to be picked-up by team captains or placed on a pick-up team (depending on the number of free agents that register).
  4. Bring signed waivers the day of the tournament. See Waiver section below.

Event Overview

This year with the support of Bay Area Disc Association, Fanya will include a one-day Youth Division! The Fanya Youth Division is a spirited beach ultimate one day tournament specifically for youth aged 7-14 and will run alongside the 2-day Adult Division tournament.

All tournament proceeds support Hamomi Children’s Centre, (you’re encouraged to explore this site). Students at Hamomi have learned to play Ultimate and are excited that Bay Area youth will be playing to help support them.

  • When: Saturday, March 19th (11am-4pm)
  • Where: Stairwell #7 (@Cabrillo st)- Ocean Beach, San Francisco
  • Format: The day will start with a mixed team skills clinic(note: Special appearances will be made by local professional ultimate players) followed by games of
  • 5-on-5 (BULA rules) “Open” with gender matching encouraged. Age 7-11 Division and 12-14 Division
  • Division of time spent on drills vs. games is left up to the discretion of the coaches
  • Cost: $90 per team; $15 for individuals

Raffle:

As part of the event, a Youth Division raffle will be held. Prizes to be announced.

Waivers

We encourage each team to have 1 Coach and 1 Parent Manager (collect/keep Bay Area Disc’s Medical Authorization forms – link below). Parent/guardian needs to fill out, sign and bring to the field these two forms, if you haven’t done so already for previous Bay Area Disc Association camps or leagues:

What to bring

  • A dark and a light t-shirt
  • Water bottle
  • Rain/cold gear (jacket, warm clothes, a big plastic bag to protect your stuff)

Dedication

This year Hamomi suffered a great loss. The school’s Director of Operations Musumba Joseck Esau was an integral part of the the Hamomi community, who started his involvement shortly after the school’s inception. For more than 15 years, he rarely missed a day and helped Hamomi become what it is today. For his tireless effort and contribution, we are dedicating the tournament Musumba’s memory.
